The 3rd single from our upcoming album, Weightless, which comes out on Oct 20th. This song has an apocalyptic undertone, like a stormy sea scene in an 18th century painting, yet with glimpses of light and hopeful brightness fighting their way through the clouds. Dark blue, gray, the constant movement of the oceans. The song focuses mostly on the struggle with the idea of not being able to fully match an idealistic yet necessary view on how we would like to conduct ourselves in this crumbling world to help save it, with our more hedonistic desire to live life with everything modern society has to offer, at least for those of us lucky enough with access to it all.
lyrics
NORTH OF SOMETHING
There’s and edge to
Our existence
But it’s not my daughters
Who will live in the waning distance
Hear the thunder
Of the waves releasing hunger
Your lord of fire
Burns the mountain
Like a pyre
And all that you see
Followed a delicate scheme
I’ve been thinking
Of the thrill
In disappearing
If not escaping
In a way
Of not believing
But, I have no idea
Why I feel this way
Fickle love, the land don’t lie
Oh, we’re gazing with an empty eye
It’s in the way that
We have overstayed our time
Oh, soft machine
cleans the scene
Of debris
Shimmering
On your skin
Plastic dye
In your eye
In the tongues
Of your young
What we’ve done
We’ve done
This gun
Your gun
So long as
You’re gone
You’re gone
I’m …
Fickle, love, the land don’t lie
Oh, we’re gazing with an empty eye
